Warmest wishes and Happy Holidays from all of us here at Ruby Eats.

Take a Walk on the Riverside with us this Saturday!

Remember to join us this Saturday, October 20th for Riverside’s annual Take a Walk on the Riverside Festival. This year, to keep you warm and toasty, we’ll be doling out hot cups of Ruby’s Mulled Apple Cider. The walk is happening rain or shine, and is a great chance to explore what Riverside has to offer (and DanceWalk with your neighbours!)

Chef Lora Kirk and the gang will be heading to Soupstock this Sunday, October 21st to celebrate the land that feeds us, and raise awareness about the proposed Mega-Quarry in Melanchton Township.  This event follows last year’s Foodstock, which drew more than 28,000 people and 100 chefs to a farm adjacent to the Highland Companies’ proposed Mega-Quarry site, just 100 km northwest of Toronto.  You can find a great video about the movement here, in our Foodstock blog post.  Tickets for Soupstock are $10, and can be purchased online.

Ruby Eats has your Thanksgiving Essentials:Turkey Gravy, Cranberry Sauce, Pumpkin Pie Filling and more!

We’re ready for Thanksgiving here at Ruby Eats!  The Chefs have sent us plenty of homemade goodies for your dinner this weekend: pumpkin pie filling, cranberry sauce, and turkey gravy, all made at Ruby Watchco.  We also have our produce section stocked with Thanksgiving classics for those getting ready to cook up a storm; Parsnips, potatoes, carrots, green beans, cauliflower, pie pumpkins and squash of many kinds.

We have plenty of goodies for the family to enjoy pre-dinner too.  Our Chicken Liver Parfait is great with bread or crostini, and our house-made olives, beets, and yellow beans are delicious in a Thanksgiving cocktail.  Cheese this week includes Riopelle, Bleu d’Elizabeth and Niagara Gold (add some of our candied olives to your cheese platter or salad to make a real impact).

We still have gourds, corn, wheat and pumpkins for decoration!  Mums are now on sale as well, with small planters, medium planters and hanging mums still available.

Fall Season Begins at Ruby Eats: Pumpkins, Squash, Apples and more!

We’re getting into the fall spirit here at Ruby Eats, with pumpkins, squash and gourds galore.  You’ll find everything you need to decorate your Thanksgiving dinner table or entranceway: bales of hay, bundles of wheat, and gorgeous mums look great outside.   Our miniature gourds would be perfect for the table top, windowsill or mantle.

Our pumpkins and squash aren’t just for looking at; if you’re in the baking mood, we have large pumpkins and bushels of apples for pie making.  Squash varieties iclude Sweet Meat, White Swan, Butternut, Turban Squash, and Pepper Squash.  These make excellent sides and tasty soups!
